We are seeking an individual expecting to graduate in the spring of 2026 with a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting major) to join our team. Our 6 person firm assists SME’s (small and medium-sized enterprises) and individuals with their accounting, business, and income tax needs. We provide a high level of personal service to a wide range of clients using latest technologies. As a smaller accounting firm, we offer a broader level of experience that only a small to medium sized firm can offer. A successful candidate will have:
- Recently graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting major) or expecting to graduate by April 2026.
- Individuals planning to complete the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Professional Education Program are preferred but not mandatory
- Self-motivation and a strong work ethic with an ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Sound judgment and best practices regarding confidential and sensitive matters with excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience using Microsoft Office, Sage 50, QuickBooks Online, and Caseware is considered an asset
- Previous accounting, bookkeeping or income tax experience is considered an asset
- Customer service and/or client service experience is considered an asset
Your primary tasks will include:
- Preparation of financial statements and corporate income tax returns for business year ends
- Preparation of personal income tax returns
- Preparation of Estate tax returns and tax information slips (T3’s, T4’s, T5’s etc)
- Business advisory
- Controllership
- Assist clients with CRA audits or reviews
- Supervision of new hires
- Special projects as required
The ideal candidate will be expected to maintain good relationships with the team and clients; show a good deal of initiative and judgment; and be able to recognize and analyze problems and propose sound solutions.
